laura ingle is live outside the courthouse in connecticut. she's following a case and brings us up to date. >> reporter: jurors don't appear to be close to a verdict this morning. after they allowed the judge presiding over the penalty phase to go to church. it was one of the key indicators we were looking for this morning as to where the jurors are in their delib rating process -- deliberating process. the judge is back from church now and they're still at it. jurors have been in the deliberation room for over 12 hours in the last three days. we're waiting for a knock or a note. knock, meaning verdict. note, indicating request for testimony readback or a question for the judge. jurors so far have had questions about being unanimous on the verdict forms. they have to all be in agreement as to hayes' mental capacity at the time of the home invasion, before they could move on to the next step in the deliberation process. jurors looked exhausted when they left the court yesterday. so did the family memory of the victim. dr. william petit is back
